The establishment process of Buharkent Vocational School at Aydın Adnan Menderes University began in 2001, when the foundation of the school building was laid. The project was initiated with the aim of bringing a higher education institution to the district, and the structural construction of the building was completed in 2011. The opening of the vocational school was approved by the Council of Higher Education in 2014, while official unit reports record 2015 as the institution’s year of establishment.
The school’s initial academic structure was formed around the Office Management and Executive Assistance Program and the Call Center Services Program, both operating under the Department of Office Services and Secretarial Studies. As part of the ongoing establishment process, the Alternative Energy Resources Technology Program was opened in 2015 under the Department of Electricity and Energy. This development expanded the school’s field of education beyond administrative services to include energy technologies.
Buharkent Vocational School officially began its educational activities in the 2016–2017 academic year by admitting its first students to the Alternative Energy Resources Technology Program and the Office Management and Executive Assistance Program. The official opening ceremony of the school was held on 19 November 2016 with the participation of Nihat Zeybekci, who was serving as the Minister of Economy at the time.
The school’s academic structure was further strengthened through the introduction of new programs in the following years. The Child Development Program became operational in the 2017–2018 academic year, while the Call Center Services Program admitted its first students in the 2018–2019 academic year. The Polymer Technology Program, which was established in response to the region’s economic structure and the need for qualified personnel in industry, began admitting students in the 2023–2024 academic year.
